Gerald Mwanjin

Gerald was fitted with his ICD last January. He is 53 years of age. and is of African descent. He said that he suffers

from cardiac sarcoidosis, and his ICD has saved his life twice.

It kicked in when my heart rate went through the roof. Luckily, he is here to tell the tale

My life is quite normal now, as I used to struggle to walk before the ICD was fitted.

ICD's are literally life savers.

The batteries on the ICD's and pacemakers need to be replaced by having the incision re-opened, and the internal box removed

for the battery to be replaced, then the wound is then re-closed. Gerald reported that he has 4 years and 9 months

remaining on his battery on his last visit, before his battery requires replacement.
